Video: Rescue of a Dog and Three Puppies After a Month from the Hatay Earthquake

Turkish citizen Kadir Kifli was surprised not only to see his dog Sila, a two-and-a-half-year-old Doberman, emerge from the rubble of a collapsed building in Hatay province, southern Turkey, 28 days after the devastating earthquake struck the area, but also because she had given birth to three puppies. He noted that he had asked local rescue teams for help in getting his dog out from under the rubble, but no one was able to enter through the debris.

The local animal rescue team, Miyako, came to assist him. After hours of work, the team managed to reach the basement where Sila was trapped, discovering that she had survived despite being under the rubble for nearly a month and had also given birth to three puppies.

In a recorded moment upon their arrival at Sila, one of the rescuers could be heard asking, "What did she drink here? What did she eat? Did she give birth to three?" The rescuers were seen navigating through a narrow opening in the debris and then breaking a gap in a door to access the room in the basement, which appeared to have suffered minimal damage.

Kifli expressed his relief in the clip shared by the Miyako team, stating, "My dog came out after a month. Thank God," adding that Sila survived and gave birth to her puppies thanks to a large bag of dog food that was available in the basement of the home. The rescuers transported Sila and her puppies to the nearby city of Adana for medical treatment.
