Iran: Fire Extinguished at Defense Ministry Warehouse, Authorities Investigate

Iranian state media reported that a fire that broke out overnight in a battery warehouse belonging to the Defense Ministry was extinguished today, Friday, marking the latest incident in a series of events affecting the Islamic Republic's defense sector. Officials stated that there were no reports of casualties and did not provide details about the damage to the warehouse located in the capital, Tehran. A statement from the Defense Ministry mentioned that the fire occurred in a "plastic storage warehouse linked to battery production" and added that the cause of the fire is under investigation. The Tehran firefighting authority noted that the fire broke out around midnight in a storage area covering 2,000 square meters, with state television broadcasting footage showing smoke rising from the incident site. Last month, Iran accused Israel of being behind a failed plot to sabotage the defense sector and missile production. Iran stated that a network of agents attempted to introduce defective parts into advanced missile production. Israel did not respond to these allegations. In February, Iran also accused Israel of launching a drone attack on a military factory near the city of Isfahan in central Iran. Israel has long claimed that it is prepared to strike Iranian targets if diplomacy fails to curb Tehran's nuclear or missile programs, but it does not comment on specific incidents. The two adversaries have been engaged in an indirect conflict for decades, with mutual accusations of sabotage and assassination plots.
