Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today, Thursday, a coordinated anti-terrorism operation within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). According to the Sputnik news agency, Putin stated at the summit held today in Minsk, Belarus, that "this operation aims to suppress recruitment and obstruct channels for the departure of citizens from our countries to participate in the activities of international terrorist groups," noting that cooperation among security services and law enforcement agencies with CSTO member states has been strengthened for this purpose.
Putin explained that he discussed issues related to public security as outlined in the United Nations Charter during his talks with his counterparts from CSTO member states to enhance coordination. For his part, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, in remarks made on the sidelines of the summit, stated, "The readiness of the CSTO security system is at the highest levels and is being reinforced." He added, "We are continuously testing this system and conducting exercises in various fields and in different member countries of the CSTO, as we are doing everything possible to enhance and strengthen the joint air defense system with each member state, taking into account the experience of the special military operation in protecting Donbas."
The CSTO summit is convened to address the fundamental issues of the organization's activities and to make decisions aimed at achieving its goals and objectives, as well as ensuring coordination and joint activities among member states to realize these aims.
