Member of the "Loyalty to the Resistance" bloc, MP Hassan Favor Allah, revealed that "the pressures exerted by the American ambassador in Beirut prevented Lebanon from achieving revenues amounting to tens of millions of dollars through a single project that connects Lebanon to Syria. This project could have addressed the issues of public schools and universities and provided medications for those suffering from chronic diseases. The crisis in the public sector, including education and health, stems from a lack of revenues and inadequate funding. The central bank, if it wants to secure salaries for the public sector and finance the cost of medicine and health, states that it requires a certain amount of money. Thus, a single project with Syria could provide this amount. However, the American ambassador intervened with the officials and said it was prohibited. In Lebanon, we have opportunities, and those preventing us from benefiting from these opportunities are the pressures, sanctions, and direct American threats."
During his sponsorship of a ceremony honoring successful students in the official exams in the southern town of Ainatha, he emphasized "the priority of launching the school year in public schools and the national university, which Hezbollah is working on within the government and parliament, as well as through constant communication with the Minister of Education, whom we urge to take all necessary steps to start this year. For our part, through goodwill initiatives, we are working to provide possible support to public schools so they can open their doors this year."
He stated: "High speeches, disputes, and accusations lead nowhere; they may allow some people to vent their frustrations, and some may score points here or there, but they do not yield results. Thus, everyone always sees us as concerned about stability and civil peace."
He added: "Our constant call is for convergence, understanding, and dialogue, and we apply that to ourselves. In this context, we have dialogue with the Free Patriotic Movement, which seeks to open horizons and provide options for creating a suitable ground for understanding what we are striving for, and we seek to achieve results. This dialogue is ongoing with seriousness and a commitment to reach outcomes, but it requires some time."
Favor Allah concluded: "During the Security Council discussions, we observed certain internal political behaviors at the level of the relevant official authority and in performance at the United Nations. We heard something in the media, but the performance was different. We are not currently in a position to engage in an media dispute because the resistance and its people know how to build capacities and elements of strength and how to prevent any violations against them."
