The Minister of Finance in the caretaker government, Youssef Khalil, issued a memo regarding the payment of allowances, salaries, and pensions for January 2024, as well as wages for December 2023. The memo states: "On the occasion of the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Department of Payments and the Treasury Department are requested, each within their jurisdiction, to work on finalizing the transactions for the payment of monthly allowances and salaries for January 2024, as well as wages for employees and contractors, and all other wages due for the end of December 2023. This is applicable only to the settlement documents submitted to the Department of Payments by December 11, 2023, at the latest, so that they are ready for payment along with pensions starting from December 21, 2023. Any documents received after December 11, 2023, will be processed at the end of January 2024 with no exceptions."
