Turkey: About 16,000 Injured During Sacrifice Rituals

Approximately 16,000 butchers were injured in Turkey on the first day of Eid al-Adha, as announced by the Turkish Minister of Health. Minister Fahrettin Koca wrote on X platform that "on the first day of the holiday, around 16,000 people visited health centers across the country due to injuries sustained while slaughtering sacrifices." In 2023, nearly 30,000 people were injured during the four days of celebrations in Turkey, according to official figures. The minister stated that "these incidents are due to sacrifices being made by untrained individuals," urging those who have not yet slaughtered their Eid sacrifices to exercise caution.
