Fighting has intensified in Sudan, particularly in the capital Khartoum and Omdurman, with reports of dozens of civilian injuries. Sudanese army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan appeared in a video recording leading a military leadership meeting coinciding with escalating confrontations in Khartoum and Omdurman.
Sudanese military sources reported targeting four sites belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) east of the Nile in an airstrike carried out by the Sudanese Air Force. The sources added that the sites include camps and warehouses for weapons and equipment. Four rocket launchers used by the RSF to bombard the city of Omdurman were also destroyed in an aerial raid by army forces in Bahri.
In a new audio recording attributed to RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as "Hemeti," he stated, "We will not despair of calling on the honorable army to stop fighting and work to end the suffering of citizens caused by those who hijacked the army’s decision and plunged the country into a war they will not win." Hemeti claimed that the battle in Bahri witnessed exceptional military achievements by the RSF, reflecting their strong commitment to achieving victory and peace for Sudan.
Additionally, Mustafa Mohamed Ibrahim, an advisor to the RSF commander, expressed expectations for a comprehensive ceasefire between the army and the RSF before the end of the current month, under Saudi-American sponsorship.
Monitoring groups reported that the semi-military RSF had taken control of a town in southern Darfur, leading to clashes, looting, and a new wave of displacement. Clashes between the RSF and army in the town of Kas resulted in the flight of about five thousand families, some of whom were from displacement camps, according to a tracking system managed by the International Organization for Migration.
The RSF announced its control over an army base in Kas, seizing vehicles, weapons, and capturing 30 soldiers amid the broader conflict. The RSF fully controlled the operations of the 61st Infantry Brigade, with the entire locality of Kas under its control.
