The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced today, Sunday, the launch of the first public transport lines for Sadr City, located east of Baghdad. The Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported that "Minister of Transport Razak Muhibis Al-Saadi launched the first public transport lines for Sadr City." He added that "this line is the fifth out of 72 lines planned for the capital." Earlier, Minister Razak Muhibis Al-Saadi directed the opening of all public transport lines in Baghdad and pointed to a plan to operate 72 lines in the capital. The Council of Ministers had previously decided to obligate ministries and entities not affiliated with any ministry to activate public transport systems, ensuring that at least 30% of their employees use public buses from the ministries' available vehicles or through direct coordination with the Ministry of Transport/the General Company for Passengers and Delegates Transport, incentivizing employees to participate in public transport by allowing them a grace period of half an hour for morning attendance after the official working hours begin and half an hour before the end of official work for evening attendance.
