The Arab Six-Nation Meeting: We Affirm the Need for Full Support for UNRWA

Today, Egypt hosted a meeting that included the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia, the Foreign Minister of Jordan, the Foreign Minister of Qatar, the State Minister for International Cooperation from the UAE, the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, in addition to the Egyptian Foreign Minister. They discussed and exchanged views on the developments of the Palestinian issue and the disastrous ramifications of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, along with the efforts made to halt it and the unprecedented humanitarian suffering it produces.

Participants emphasized the priority of achieving a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire, increasing access to humanitarian aid, opening all crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip, and overcoming the obstacles imposed by Israel through the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 2720, which meets the needs of more than two million Palestinians in Gaza facing famine.

They underscored the necessity of providing full support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and reiterated their rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land or to liquidate the Palestinian cause. They stressed the need for Israel to cease all unilateral actions that undermine the chances for achieving a just peace, including settlement activities and those targeting the alteration of the existing historical and legal status in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian sanctities.

They also confirmed the importance of the historical Hashemite custodianship in protecting these sanctities and their Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity, as well as the inevitability of implementing the two-state solution and establishing the Palestinian state according to international references, including the Arab Peace Initiative.
