Murder of a Senior Yemeni Officer in Egypt: Gang and Sleeping Pills

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior revealed today, Monday, details regarding the murder of a senior Yemeni army officer who held the position of Director of Military Manufacturing. The ministry stated in an official statement that it received a report from a "Yemeni national" who discovered his brother's body inside his apartment, along with signs of ransacking, after he had attempted to contact him for two days without a response.

The investigations and information gathering led to identifying the perpetrators, namely Ramadan Mohamed Belidi Ali, 29, a driver residing in Al-Muneera Al-Gharbeya in Giza, who had previously been accused in several cases including murder, possession of an unlicensed weapon, theft, and vandalism. Alongside him was Abdel Rahman Ashraf Shehata Mustafa, known as "Abdo Asali," 19, a mechanic residing in Al-Tawabiq in Giza.

The ministry noted that upon confronting the suspects, they confessed to committing the crime and acknowledged that two of them had previously known the victim and conspired to rob him with the help of the others. They explained that they took advantage of the Yemeni officer hosting them at his home last Friday evening to drug him with sleeping pills mixed in a drink, allowing the others to enter his residence. When he resisted, they assaulted him, bound him, and brought him down to the ground, leading to his death.

The ministry confirmed that the suspects stole foreign and local currencies, personal belongings, and a rented car parked near his residence, escaping in it. The ministry announced that the suspects guided the authorities to all the stolen items, the rented vehicle, and the weapon used in the crime, as well as a shotgun and several rounds that were in the possession of one of the suspects. Furthermore, a woman named Aya Reda Mahmoud, 23, a housewife residing in the Osim Center area in Giza, was arrested for hiding part of the stolen goods; she is the daughter of the first suspect's wife and had a previous drug-related charge.
