The NRK network reported that a source from the Norwegian Ministry of Justice stated that the country may repatriate around 1,000 refugees to Ukraine, including 370 men of military service age. The source mentioned: "Military conscription and service related to combat activities are not circumstances that lead to granting asylum in Norway." Since spring 2022, 77,000 Ukrainians have applied for "temporary protection," which provides a residence permit without assessing the necessity for protection. However, Norwegian authorities are now reviewing each application individually.
Earlier, the Minister of State for Bavaria, Joachim Herrmann, called on television channel Welt not to provide unemployment benefits (Bürgergeld) to Ukrainian refugees who are wanted in their homeland for military service. A survey conducted by the INSA Institute for the Bild newspaper revealed that 40 percent of the German population supports reducing Germany's spending on aid to Ukraine. Spiegel reported, citing the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf), that over 250,000 refugees from Ukraine arrived in Germany over the past year, and as of mid-March, more than 1.65 million Ukrainians have been registered seeking refuge in Germany.
