Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stated today, Tuesday, that "the United Nations Security Council and the international community bear the responsibility of pressuring Israel to open all land crossings leading to the Gaza Strip." He said during a conference in Jordan: "The responsibility of the Security Council and all parties in the international community is significant in pressuring Israel to open all land crossings to the Gaza Strip and hand them over to the new government, in order to allow the entry of all relief and medical supplies, as well as shelter materials and equipment." Abbas added: "Above all, and before anything else, efforts must continue to achieve an immediate and permanent ceasefire and the withdrawal of all Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, to pave the way for the establishment of the State of Palestine and for it to assume its full responsibilities."
