Former U.S. President Donald Trump promised during a rally for his supporters in Philadelphia that if he wins the election, he will immediately end the Ukraine conflict, even before his official inauguration and assumption of power. Trump stated at the rally, "Even before I step into the Oval Office and win the presidential election, I will put an end to this terrible conflict between Russia and Ukraine." He has previously claimed multiple times that if he wins the election, he would be able to resolve the Ukrainian conflict in just 24 hours.
In response to Trump's statements, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov remarked that "the problem is too complex to be solved with such a simple solution." Earlier, Trump had promised to "settle" billions of dollars in payments to Ukraine if he wins the upcoming presidential election in November. The former president has criticized the continued financial aid to Kyiv. Last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin positively assessed Trump's proposal to "resolve pressing issues, including the Ukrainian crisis, within a few days." According to Putin, "This can only please us; it is a good thing," while expressing doubts that any outcome of the U.S. elections would impact U.S.-Russian relations.
The U.S. presidential election is scheduled for November 5, and Trump's main competitor will be the current President Joe Biden. The presidential inauguration is set for January 20, 2025.
