The weekend closed with the repercussions of the Kahale incident, awaiting investigations that will be conducted by the judiciary to uncover the truth about what happened that day. However, the long-term consequences remain unresolved, and there is a genuine concern that the current situation may evolve into a snowball effect, leading to repeated security incidents in various areas.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on the upcoming Thursday session, unless new developments arise in the coming days. This legislative session has been called by Speaker Nabih Berri, who confirmed on Sunday his intention to hold it, despite uncertainties regarding the participation of parliamentary blocs and ensuring a quorum.
Sources from the Amal Movement referred back to what Berri stated in his recent declaration, expressing that "the legislative session will proceed as scheduled unless any urgent matters arise, as there are critical issues that the parliament must address in light of the vacancy and the worsening conditions of the people."
In a conversation with the electronic newspaper "Al-Anbaa," sources from Amal encouraged the parliamentary blocs to respond positively to Berri's invitation by attending the legislative session, stating that daily necessities cannot wait.
Member of the "National Moderation" bloc, MP Ahmad Rustom, confirmed in a call with "Al-Anbaa" that the bloc would attend the legislative session and emphasized the importance of participation.
According to information, the "Strong Republic" bloc plans to boycott this parliamentary session, similar to their stance in previous ones, based on the principle that legislation should not occur during the presidential vacancy, highlighting the necessity of completing the presidential election before addressing any other matters. Consequently, attention will also focus on the position of the "Strong Lebanon" bloc, as their absence could affect achieving a quorum. The final decision from the "Strong Lebanon" bloc is expected to be announced on Tuesday after their weekly meeting.
