Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, at the Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul on Sunday. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance cooperation in various fields, as well as intensifying bilateral and multilateral coordination on issues of mutual interest. Following this, an amended protocol for establishing a coordination council between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of Turkey was signed, aiming to advance relations between the two countries towards broader horizons in various areas to fulfill the aspirations of their leaderships and peoples.
In a joint press conference, Fidan stated that "Israel and Netanyahu are committing new massacres whenever there are signs of constructive atmospheres," adding that "Netanyahu’s government does not seek peace, which is evident from its ongoing bloodshed." The Turkish Foreign Minister indicated that "Hamas responded positively to recent proposals, but Israel has led the situation to a dead end." He further noted, "The current situation requires a global effort to pressure Israel to stop the brutality being exercised in Gaza," emphasizing that "we are in agreement with Saudi Arabia regarding stopping the brutal attacks in Gaza."
For his part, the Saudi Foreign Minister stated, "We will continue to coordinate with Turkey to encourage more countries to recognize the State of Palestine."
