The Al-Nasr Club, the runner-up in the Saudi Pro League, announced today, Tuesday, that it has signed Senegalese forward Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich until 2027. Al-Nasr posted a video on the "X" platform titled "With One Voice: Sadio Mane is a Nasrawi." The video showcased fans chanting Mane's name, to which he responded, "I can't wait to hear your voices in the stadium." The announcement also revealed the new alternate kit for the upcoming season.
Later, Al-Nasr shared photos from the player's signing ceremony, stating: "Senegalese national team captain Mane has signed a contract with Al-Nasr extending until 2027," noting that the player will wear the number 10 jersey.
The Saudi club did not disclose the financial details of the deal, but reports indicated that Al-Nasr paid 40 million euros (approximately 43.85 million dollars) to acquire Mane, who had two years remaining on his contract with Bayern. Earlier on Tuesday, the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah mentioned that Senegalese international Mane would join Al-Nasr's training ahead of the match against "Zamalek of Egypt" in the Arab Club Championship on Thursday.
It stated: "Mane will join his teammates in training on Wednesday, preparing for the match against Zamalek on Thursday, in the last match of Group Three of the King Salman Club Cup, at King Fahd Sports City." The report added that Al-Nasr had included Mane's name on its list for the Arab tournament as a preparatory measure to sign him at any time during the competition, which happened later.
The newspaper had previously reported last month that "Al-Nasr" had indeed signed Mane for three years after he passed a medical examination conducted in Dubai, UAE.
Al-Nasr currently sits at the top of Group Three with four points from two matches, tied with local rival Al-Shabab. A draw in the final round against "Zamalek," who is in third place with three points, would be enough for Al-Nasr to advance to the quarter-finals.
The Monastir Union has exited the tournament after suffering its second defeat in two matches. Mane, who is 31 years old and a former Liverpool player, joins Al-Nasr during the current transfer window after the arrivals of Croatia's Marcelo Brozović from Inter, Ivory Coast's Seiko Fofana from Lens, and Brazil's Alex Telles from Manchester United. The Saudi league has become attractive to stars since Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nasr in the previous winter transfer window.
