Turkish Defense Ministry spokesperson Zeki Akturk confirmed the monitoring of provocative actions in northern Syria, stating that the perpetrators are "elements working against Turkey," and emphasizing his country's commitment to the territorial integrity of Syria. Admiral Akturk said at a press conference: "After the events of that day were controlled, posts spread rapidly on social media that made it seem as if the events had just started and were ongoing."
He added that it is important to pay special attention to provocations on social media. He noted that necessary precautions have been taken and stressed that "no form of riots or provocative acts against the Republic of Turkey will be allowed." Akturk stated that Ankara aims to ensure the preservation of Syria's territorial integrity and to reestablish and create stability in Syria.
In related news, he announced that in the past week, "57 terrorist elements were neutralized in northern Syria and Iraq, bringing the total number neutralized since the beginning of the year to 1,327." The Turkish Defense Ministry spokesperson concluded that "there is currently no negative situation in our operational areas in Syria."
It is worth mentioning that last Monday, four people were killed during protests in areas controlled by Turkey in northern Syria, where hundreds participated in the demonstrations following violence against Syrian interests in the city of Kayseri. News agencies reported that four people were killed during an exchange of gunfire between demonstrators and guards at Turkish sites, three of them in Afrin and one in Jarabulus, with 20 others injured.
