Warning of Fake Property Listings in the UAE

Abu Dhabi Police has warned the public about renewed methods of fraud and the deceptive tactics used to lure victims through the presentation of fake property pictures at low prices on social media. The victims often provide a deposit for the property only to discover that they have been scammed. Abu Dhabi Police emphasized the importance of adhering to the regulations of relevant authorities regarding the authentication of rental contracts, warning that fake rent reductions should not be a reason to fall victim to real estate fraud.

The police urged the public to take preventive measures by contacting licensed real estate offices, asking brokers or representatives to show their Emirates ID, recording their information, and only providing documents at those offices. They advised obtaining stamped receipts, keeping official contracts, and ensuring that the property is registered with the relevant government department.

Furthermore, they cautioned job seekers against "fake employment" and believing the lies of scammers who exploit official events and activities to defraud them. Scammers create pages for fake companies online, presenting themselves as accredited recruitment firms or programs on social media, requesting payments as fees for these non-existent jobs, only for applicants to realize too late that they have fallen victim to fraud.
