The "Iron Fist" exercise, which began today, will last for two weeks and simulates a war on four fronts. Israeli military spokesman Avichai Adraee explained that the exercise will be at the level of the General Staff of the Israel Defense Forces and will involve multi-front combat in the air, sea, land, and across the spectrum and cyberspace. He added, "For the first time, we will practice the operation of spectrum control cells, whose role is to shape the situational picture in the realm of spectrum warfare. During the exercise, there will be active movement of security forces and military vehicles, as well as air and naval units."
According to Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, the exercise comes less than a month after the recent aggression on Gaza and amid tensions with Hezbollah. It will include scenarios of combat in air, land, sea, and cyber domains. Tens of thousands of regular and reserve forces will participate, and scenarios will simulate the rescue of hundreds of hostages in southern Lebanon.
The army exercise, named “Iron Fist,” will be integrated with training from the 36th Division and the Gallilee Division under the Northern Command of the enemy’s army. Like in previous years, the exercise scenarios will include simulations of incidents and operations at the borders and will escalate quickly from the West Bank, Jerusalem, and Gaza to the main arena, which is southern Lebanon. Soldiers will also face scenarios of a barrage of rockets from the east and cyber attacks on communication, radio, and internet infrastructure.
