The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced early on Saturday that eight people were killed and three injured in an Israeli airstrike on a residential building in the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon. Tensions in the region have escalated in recent weeks following a missile attack on the occupied Golan Heights that resulted in casualties, for which Israel blamed Hezbollah. Hezbollah has also vowed to retaliate against Israel, as has Iran, due to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau in Tehran.
