Hussein Mones, the head of the "Rights Movement" and a member of parliament, criticized the Iraqi government's position regarding the deployment of heavily armed forces, noting that "we have not witnessed anything like it during the war against ISIS." Mones stated via X platform, "We are witnessing government actions these days that contradict the state’s position, which is fundamentally opposed to the Zionist entity and American arrogance. This is evident in the deployment of heavily armed forces, which we have not seen since the war against ISIS, aimed at suffocating freedoms and narrowing the democratic spaces that ensure freedom of expression. This is what happened when young protesters and sympathizers with national causes, who were engaged in global protests on this matter, were pursued." He added, "While they did not commit a crime greater than 'shattering shop windows,' they were pursued under the provisions of Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law, which compels us to demand that the government prove its credibility when it committed to supporting the Palestinian cause by stopping the major companies that have infiltrated the country and monopolized huge contracts whose profits go to the criminal entity."
