Netanyahu: We Will Not Stop the War Until All Announced Goals Are Achieved

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed today, Tuesday, that "the war will continue in the Gaza Strip until all its goals are achieved, including the elimination of Hamas and the return of the hostages." Netanyahu, in response to an article published by the New York Times regarding calls from Israeli generals to stop the war in Gaza without achieving its objectives, stated, "Today, the New York Times cited anonymous sources claiming that Israel would be willing to end the war before achieving all of its goals. I do not know who these unnamed parties are."

He added in a video clip that "the political level has set these goals for the military, and the army has all the tools necessary to achieve them. We will not retreat, whether in response to New York Times reports or any other party; we are charged with a spirit of victory." The New York Times had reported that senior Israeli generals want a ceasefire in Gaza, even if it means leaving Hamas in power for the time being. This demand is seen as widening the gap between the military and Netanyahu, who opposes a truce that would allow Hamas to survive the war.
