Israeli public broadcasting reported today, Sunday, that Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant will present the post-war plan for Gaza during his visit to Washington. It noted that Gallant would inform the U.S. administration about the Israeli army's impending transition to the third phase of the war.
Gallant left for Washington today to discuss the next phase of the war in Gaza and the escalation of combat on the border between Israel and Lebanon, where exchanges of fire with the Hezbollah organization are fueling fears of a broader conflict. Hezbollah began attacking Israel shortly after the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement, Hamas, launched an attack on Israeli towns on October 7, igniting the war in Gaza, with both sides exchanging strikes since then.
Hezbollah has confirmed it will not cease its actions until there is a ceasefire in Gaza. Gallant stated in a statement before heading to Washington: "We are prepared for any action that may be necessary in Gaza, Lebanon, and other areas." He clarified that he would meet with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
