New Clash Over Session to Discuss War Issue

The opposition forces are nearing a new clash with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and the Shiite duo by signing a petition demanding that he call for a general session to discuss the issue of war in the south. Parliamentary sources informed "Al-Liwaa" that the matter of holding a special parliamentary session regarding the war requires the approval of Speaker Berri, as he is the one authorized to convene it. They stated that the issue had been settled previously regarding the exclusion of holding a session that would increase political division in the country, announcing that it is the opposition's right to take this procedure and the right of the Speaker to either reject the session or not respond to the demands of these forces. On the other hand, opposition sources confirmed that the opposition forces have followed the constitutional path, asserting that the response should be according to the constitution and not based on political considerations.
