Stormy Weather Until Monday: Expect Snow

Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin are under the influence of cold air masses accompanied by heavy rain, snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms, peaking on Monday morning when the snow level drops to 1500 meters, according to the forecasts from the meteorological department. (The average temperature for December in Beirut ranges from 13 to 21 degrees Celsius). With the arrival of the low-pressure system early in the morning, the Traffic Control Room reported the following road conditions:

- The road from Ainata to the Cedars is closed due to accumulated snow.

- The road from Kfarzabian to Hadath Baalbek is closed due to accumulated snow.

Expected weather in Lebanon:

- **Sunday:** Partly to mostly cloudy in the morning with an additional drop in temperatures, which will become below seasonal averages, and scattered rain in the morning. The intensity of the rain will increase starting from noon with the approach of the cold air mass, accompanied by lightning and thunder, along with active winds. Thick fog will form in the mountains, leading to poor visibility, and snow will fall at elevations of 1800 meters and above in the afternoon, dropping to around 1600 meters in the north during the night.

- **Monday:** Generally cloudy with thick fog in the mountains and an additional decrease in temperatures, bringing heavy rain which will result in flooding on the roads, accompanied by thunderstorms and active winds. Snow will fall, touching altitudes of 1500 meters, especially in the northern regions. The intensity of the rain and snow will lessen starting from the afternoon and will gradually diminish during the evening.

- **Tuesday:** Partly cloudy in the morning with fog in the mountains and a warning about ice formation on mountain roads above 1700 meters during the dawn and early morning hours. The weather will gradually shift to a few clouds with rising temperatures, which will still remain below seasonal averages.
