Buses to Start Operating in Lebanese Areas, Announced by Minister Hamiyeh Tomorrow

The Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamiyeh, will announce the start of bus operations on designated routes in Lebanese areas during a press conference to be held at 11:00 AM tomorrow at the Railway and Public Transport Authority in Mar Mikhael.

Today, Hamiyeh met with MP Jihad Al-Samad in the ministry, where they discussed the general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as regional developmental issues handled by the ministry, particularly concerning road maintenance and addressing landslides in the Zgharta area.

Hamiyeh confirmed that "directives have been given to all relevant parties in the ministry to assess the main roads in various Lebanese regions, including in the Zgharta area." He added, "Files are currently being prepared sequentially, and administrative procedures are being completed by the relevant authorities in the ministry, according to the available budget."

Regarding the land slides in the town of Al-Safira, particularly the collapse that occurred at the beginning of this year, he indicated that "remedial works are underway there rapidly." He stated, "As for the second collapse that recently occurred in that town, directives were immediately given to the relevant parties in the ministry to initiate the necessary administrative procedures to prepare for remedial actions."

For his part, Al-Samad praised "the efforts being made by the ministry in the file of road maintenance and addressing landslide issues, particularly the follow-up on the Al-Safira collapse at the beginning of this year, as well as the directives given about the second collapse at the Al-Nasser site," confirming that "collaboration with other state administrations in Lebanon undoubtedly contributes to expediting the resolution of these issues related to public safety."
