The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, announced that EU countries have not agreed on the release of funds from the "European Peace Fund" intended to support Ukraine. Borrell stated during a press conference at the conclusion of the EU Foreign Ministers' meeting in Brussels on Monday that "these funds remain frozen due to one country. This is a shame." He explained that "this does not prevent Ukraine from receiving weapons. These funds were supposed to go to EU countries that supplied their arms to Ukraine." He added that "EU countries will not receive compensation. Therefore, they will have fewer incentives to continue doing so in the future." It is worth noting that Hungary has been obstructing the allocation of over 6 billion euros for financing arms supplies to Ukraine through the "European Peace Fund," which was established by the EU in March 2021, with most of it designated to assist Ukraine in light of the Russian military operation.
