On Friday, the Israeli army revealed the identities of 9 individuals targeted in a strike on a school belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. This disclosure followed international criticism after reports from the Palestinian side indicated that 45 civilians were killed in the incident. Military spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated, "The Israeli army continues its efforts to identify other terrorists killed in the attack."
Hagari mentioned, "Our air forces used precise munitions to target the three classrooms where the terrorists were hiding. These are just a few of the terrorists we eliminated. There are more. Some participated in the brutal massacre that took place on October 7. We are working to verify the information before sharing it with you." He confirmed that the strike was based on solid intelligence from multiple sources indicating imminent attacks against Israelis.
The attack targeted fighters from Hamas and Islamic Jihad, including Ali Hasan Banna, Ahmad Salah Mansour, Muhammad Mu'tasib, Musab Habib Darwish, Salem Afash, and Muhammad Barham, all of whom are members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement. According to local health officials, an Israeli raid on a school in central Gaza, which had turned into a shelter for displaced persons, resulted in the deaths of at least 30 people, including 23 women and children.
On Thursday, UNRWA stated that Israel bombed "without warning" one of its schools in Gaza, where thousands of displaced Palestinians had sought refuge. The UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated via the X platform, "Another UNRWA school, which had turned into a shelter, was attacked, this time in Nuseirat in the central region. It was bombed by Israeli forces during the night without prior warning for the displaced or for UNRWA."
