Informed sources have revealed new details regarding discussions on the withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq. According to these sources, "Iraq wishes for the US-led military coalition forces to begin their withdrawal at the beginning of September, aiming to formally conclude the coalition's operations by September 2025, with the possibility of some American troops remaining in an advisory capacity, as recently negotiated." It was added that "Iraqi positions are being discussed with American officials in Washington this week at a security summit," noting that "there is no formal agreement on ending the coalition or any associated timeline as of now." US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated in a press briefing that "both sides are meeting in Washington this week to determine how to transition the mission of the US-led coalition based on the threat posed by ISIS," adding that "he has no further details."
