Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes stated that Alejandro Garnacho's goal against Everton demonstrated the Argentine's potential to become an exceptional player, but cautioned against comparing him too soon to Ronaldo's illustrious career. Garnacho dazzled Manchester United fans with a stunning overhead kick from inside the penalty area, following a cross from Portuguese player Diogo Dalot, scoring just three minutes into the game in the 3-0 victory at Goodison Park during the 13th round of the English Premier League on Sunday.
The 19-year-old showcased impressive skill and technique, prompting his teammate Fernandes to comment on his potential to become one of the best players in the world. Fernandes said, "It's amazing. Something out of this world, I believe." Garnacho celebrated his goal in the style of former United star and current Al Nassr player Cristiano Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
Fernandes warned that it is too early to suggest that the Argentine can replicate "CR7's" remarkable career, but he expects great things from his young teammate, who joined from Atletico Madrid in 2020. He added, "He probably watches many videos of Cristiano! We all know he is a big fan. He still has a long way to go to become like Cristiano, but he is following in his footsteps." He continued, "He wants to be someone special in the football world and I believe he has the ability to do so, but he needs to do more than just this goal."
United currently sits sixth in the league with 24 points, trailing six points behind leaders Arsenal.
