Jordan's King Receives Mikati: To Prevent the Expansion of Conflict

Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with Jordan's King Abdullah II, in the presence of Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, today, Sunday. During the meeting, King Abdullah emphasized "the necessity of intensifying international efforts to stop the war in Gaza and prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region." The importance of delivering humanitarian aid without interruption and supporting international relief organizations operating in the sector was also highlighted.

The meeting addressed the situation in Lebanon, where King Abdullah reaffirmed "Jordan's support for the efforts of our Lebanese brothers to enhance their stability." For his part, Mikati praised "Jordan's efforts, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, in defending Arab issues and striving for peace and stability." He stressed the "need to continue efforts to stop the war in Gaza and reach a solution that allows Palestinians to remain in their land, keeping their cause alive and working towards a just and final resolution."

Mikati also met with Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh at the Jordanian government headquarters this morning, where they discussed "the necessity of intensifying Arab and international efforts to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza and prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region." Mikati expressed his appreciation for "King Abdullah II's positions in support of Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause." He confirmed that "the efforts and communications he is making with Arab and international parties are aimed at ensuring the cessation of Israeli aggression on Gaza and ensuring the sustainable delivery of aid while rejecting forced displacement."

In turn, Al-Khasawneh stated that "Israel's impunity in its blatant violations of international law and international humanitarian law through massacres and targeting civilians must end," emphasizing that "the life of a Palestinian is no less important than the life of any other person in the world." He highlighted King Abdullah II's advanced position from the very first day of the aggression on Gaza, calling for the mobilization of international support to stop the aggression and the humanitarian catastrophe facing people in Gaza, ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian and medical aid. He also affirmed that "Jordanian diplomacy, led by the king, always confirms that this cycle of violence will only end with the establishment of a political horizon leading to the establishment of an independent and fully sovereign Palestinian state along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, within the framework of a two-state solution that guarantees security and stability for the region and its peoples."
