Chelsea Signs Neto for Seven Years

Chelsea, competing in the Premier League, announced on Sunday the signing of Portuguese winger Pedro Neto on a seven-year contract from Wolverhampton. Chelsea did not disclose the value of the deal, but British media reported that it paid £54 million ($69 million) for the 24-year-old player. Neto made 135 appearances for Wolverhampton, scoring 14 goals and providing 24 assists since joining the club in 2019 from Braga. He also had a loan spell at Lazio in Italy. Neto has played in ten matches for Portugal, including three group stage games in the European Championship held in Germany. Neto stated in a statement: "I am very grateful to join this club. I have worked hard throughout my career to be here and I look forward to stepping onto the pitch in this jersey." Chelsea has signed nine players during the summer transfer window so far. They will kick off their new season in the league against defending champions Manchester City on the 18th of this month.
