Dr. Shota Kalandia, a specialist in gastrointestinal diseases, emphasizes that "the drinks a person consumes affect their health and external appearance." In a conversation with the newspaper "Izvestia," he states: "A person must drink enough water daily as it is essential for maintaining health, improving digestion, absorbing beneficial substances, eliminating toxins, and supporting metabolic processes. Water also helps improve the function of all body systems and organs, thus slowing down the aging process."
He adds: "Natural juices are considered healthy beverages. For instance, blueberry juice improves vision, assists in the treatment of diabetes, and prolongs youth. Pomegranate juice contains vitamins A, C, E, as well as zinc, selenium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, and sodium. This juice positively affects the heart and blood vessels. Beetroot juice is rich in dietary fiber and low molecular weight pectin, which helps eliminate heavy metals from the body and prevents the proliferation of harmful bacteria. Grape juice contains ascorbic acid and vitamin B, and aids in memory retention, as well as improving the condition of skin, nails, and hair." According to him, green tea positively impacts external appearance because it contains catechins and polyphenols, which are substances that slow down body aging.
Additionally, coffee contains caffeine which helps in collagen production, and thus slows down body aging. Coffee also contains antioxidants that protect cells from the effects of free radicals.
The doctor warns against certain drinks that could be harmful to some individuals; therefore, it is advisable to consult a doctor before starting to consume them.
