Investigation at the White House over Iranian Spy in Biden Administration

Investigation at the White House over Iranian Spy in Biden Administration

Reports published by "Iran International" and "Semafor," as relayed by the "Independent," have caused significant turmoil in American circles, claiming the existence of mysterious links between advisers to former U.S. Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley and the Iranian Foreign Ministry. This raises the prominent question: what sensitive American information has been leaked to Iran? In this context, the "Washington Free Beacon" revealed that the Republican Study Committee in the U.S. Congress has begun an investigation into the influence of Iranian espionage agencies within the Biden Administration. Three Republicans demanded answers from the White House regarding the "Iran International" investigation into the "close relationships between some officials in the U.S. administration and Tehran."

According to this report and statements from a group of U.S. Republican legislators, Iran has gained access to sensitive information from the U.S. government through infiltrating the Biden Administration. An investigation by Iran International indicates that three Iran experts who have closely worked with Robert Malley, Biden’s special envoy on Iran, are members of an influence network formed and guided by Tehran. Our joint reporting project with Semafor is based on thousands of emails.

The reports about Iran's influence operations within the U.S. government and major decision-making centers have provoked outrage among U.S. Congress members in recent days. These reports published by "Iran International" and "Semafor" on September 26 reveal that three of Robert Malley's assistants, the U.S. State Department's special representative for Iran under Joe Biden, have an "unconventional" and "close" relationship with the Iranian regime. It is noteworthy that Malley has been suspended from his position, and the FBI is investigating how he handled classified documents.

On September 27, five Republican members of Congress sent a letter to the White House claiming that Iran has repeatedly accessed "secret U.S. State Department emails or government servers" in recent months, publishing the documents in its propaganda media outlets like "Tehran Times."

The "Free Beacon," which obtained a copy of the letter, highlighted that Kevin Hern, Joe Wilson (both Republican House members), and Senator Bill Hagerty, who are the authors of the letter, believe that this incident constitutes a violation by a hostile foreign agent within the U.S. government and may indicate the presence of a spy within the Biden Administration. These three lawmakers also pointed out that the leak of sensitive U.S. government information carries intelligence operation implications for the Iranian regime, suggesting that Iran might access restricted emails from the U.S. State Department.

In line with this, a coalition of lawmakers under the title "Republican Study Committee" in the U.S. Congress has launched a broad investigation in this area, which, according to the "Free Beacon," could compel the Biden Administration to acknowledge the Iranian regime's influence in sensitive U.S. networks. This investigation commenced after the bombshell news published by "Iran International" and "Semafor" on September 26, which revealed details of an extensive propaganda network connected to the Iranian regime. This network, known as the "Iran Experts Initiative," includes Arin Tabatabai, a senior official at the Pentagon, along with other "influential academics abroad" who provided reports to the Iranian Foreign Ministry and helped promote dialogue between Tehran and U.S. policymakers.
