U.S. President Joe Biden, alongside Secretary of State Antony Blinken, assured that "the United States stands with Israel and will never leave it," stating that "my administration's support for Israel's security is unwavering." He added, "This is not the right moment for any party hostile to Israel to exploit these attacks."
Biden informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States is ready to provide all appropriate means of support following the attack launched by the Islamic resistance movement "Hamas" against Israel. In a statement after speaking with Netanyahu, he said: "I made it clear to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that we are prepared to provide all appropriate means of support for the Government of Israel and its people."
Biden continued, "Israel has the right to defend itself and its people. The United States warns any other party hostile to Israel against seeking to take advantage of this situation."
Regarding security, the U.S. Embassy in Israel urged its citizens to remain vigilant following the surprise attack by Hamas, which involved armed infiltrations, targeting security points, and launching rockets. The embassy issued a security alert stating, "The U.S. Embassy is closely monitoring the security situation due to the rockets being fired from Gaza across southern and central Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and the infiltration of Hamas militants."
The statement reminded American citizens of the necessity of vigilance and taking appropriate steps during security incidents that include mortar and rocket fire, which often occur without warning.
Blinken's Department of State mentioned that "Secretary Antony Blinken discussed measures to enhance Israel's security during his communications with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Foreign Minister Eli Cohen." The statement emphasized "the minister reaffirmed the United States' steadfast support for Israel's right to defend itself."
Blinken had previously indicated that "the United States condemns the attacks by Hamas on Israel and supports Israel's right to defend itself." He added in a statement issued by the State Department, "There is no justification for terrorism whatsoever. We stand in solidarity with the government and people of Israel, and we extend our condolences to the families of Israelis who have lost their lives in these attacks."
He continued, "We will remain in close contact with our Israeli partners. The United States supports Israel's right to defend itself."
Today, armed Palestinian factions launched around 5,000 rockets from the Gaza Strip toward Israel, declaring the start of "the Al-Aqsa Flood," with the Islamic Jihad Movement joining them, calling on Lebanon and Arab countries for support.
The New York Times quoted a senior Pentagon official stating that "Hamas's extensive attack revealed significant failures within the Israeli defense establishment."
