Bri: We Are Facing a Critical Month in Lebanon

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri expressed concern over the developments in the south and the escalation between Lebanon and Israel, stating that we are "facing a decisive month and the situation is uneasy." In a special meeting with the RT office team in Lebanon, Berri emphasized that "we are at a critical and sensitive stage, and we are facing a decisive month."

Berri added, "I am very concerned about the situation getting out of control. The current conditions are not reassuring." He further clarified, "We met with the American envoy Amos Hochstein, and we were waiting for his answers following his visit to Tel Aviv, but that did not happen, which raises doubts about the American initiative for de-escalation."

Regarding the details of the American initiative, Berri revealed, "Hochstein proposed that Hezbollah withdraw 8 kilometers from the border to ease tensions in the border strip areas, and I in turn demanded that the Israeli army also withdraw 8 kilometers from its border."

Berri indicated that "despite Israel's violations of UN resolution 1701, we remain committed to its full implementation, including withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories." Responding to a question about diplomatic efforts to reduce escalation, he confirmed that they are still ongoing, pointing out that "he will not meet with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who is visiting Beirut next Wednesday due to schedule conflicts."

The Lebanese Parliament Speaker stressed that "the resistance is committed to the rules of engagement, but Israel violates them and adopts a scorched earth policy in the border strip areas." He affirmed that "the Amal Movement," which he leads, "is fighting on Lebanese soil," warning, "If there is an Israeli ground invasion, we will be vigilant and on the frontline, alongside Hezbollah."

In response to a question about the campaigns targeting Beirut International Airport in Western media, Berri stated, "This is not the first time that Beirut Airport has been subjected to fabricated campaigns."
