Congo Confirms Its Commitment to OPEC

The Minister of Oil in Congo, Bruno Gon Richar Etoa, confirmed today, Saturday, his commitment to the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) days after neighboring Angola's decision to withdraw from the organization. In a post on LinkedIn, he stated, "The Republic of Congo reaffirms its firm commitment to the strategic policies established by the Secretary-General of OPEC and OPEC+." This development follows Nigeria's confirmation yesterday, Friday, of its commitment to OPEC, with Nigeria's Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, stating that his country's position remains unchanged. OPEC, led by Saudi Arabia, has set a production target of 277,000 barrels per day for Congo in 2024. Congo became a full member of OPEC in 2018.
