The Rafic Hariri Airport experienced a hacking incident involving its internal advertising screens, where messages directed at "Hezbollah" and its Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah appeared, under the name "God and the People," urging them not to involve Lebanon in a war and accusing them of smuggling weapons through the airport. Shortly after, the airport management rectified the issue. The nature of the hacking incident remains unclear, whether it was a breach of the operational system or an internal security breach. Reports indicate that the airport’s Flight Information Display System (FIDS) was compromised, and there were issues related to baggage handling systems. Middle East Airlines urged travelers to adhere to the instructions of security personnel at the airport. The displayed messages to "Hezbollah" and Nasrallah reiterated the call against involving Lebanon in war while highlighting accusations of weaponry smuggling. It was noted that the hacking incident did not affect security systems, focusing solely on operational systems. The cyber attack resulted in the disruption of the baggage handling system (BHS), prompting the security forces' inspection unit at the airport to implement an alternative plan to maintain normal operations with all security and administrative bodies. Investigations are underway, with the Intelligence Directorate of the Army and the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces conducting technical inquiries to identify those responsible for the hacking of Rafic Hariri International Airport's operational system. Authorities have begun questioning staff responsible for the screen systems and the general operations of the airport.
