The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that it is waiting for the arrival of polio vaccines, reiterating its call for a ceasefire during the vaccination campaign it is preparing to launch to allow access to every child. The ministry stated: "To reach every child, we need safe conditions, which requires a ceasefire during the implementation of the vaccination campaign." Just a few days ago, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on both parties in the Gaza conflict to provide tangible guarantees for declaring periods of humanitarian ceasefires to conduct a polio vaccination campaign. The Palestinian Ministry of Health had announced that the Gaza Strip has become a polio epidemic area, due to the dire conditions resulting from the war and Israel's deprivation of the basic necessities of life for Gazans.
