The Israeli security cabinet is scheduled to meet today, Wednesday, following the recent security events in Beirut and Tehran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced that the security cabinet will convene to discuss the implications of these events and their impact on the Israeli domestic situation.
The Israeli newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" reported that Israel has begun to bolster its security measures around all diplomatic missions worldwide after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Iran. The newspaper clarified that following the assassination of Haniyeh and the military leader of Hezbollah, Fouad Shukr, Israel is increasing the security alert level across all Israeli diplomatic missions globally, as well as heightening alert levels in Jewish institutions and communities around the world.
Furthermore, the Israeli newspaper "Jerusalem Post" noted that the Israeli government's press office had published a photo of Haniyeh with the large black text "Eliminated." However, shortly after, the image was removed from their Facebook account. Global media outlets have already referenced the post as an official confirmation of Israel's responsibility for the attack.
Earlier today, Hamas announced that an Israeli airstrike targeted the residence of Haniyeh, the head of the movement's political bureau, in Tehran, resulting in his martyrdom and that of one of his guards during his participation in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president.
