Al-Rahi: Lebanon Will Not Fall, But Will Remain Steadfast Thanks to Its Sons

The University of Our Lady of Louaizeh celebrated its thirty-fourth graduation ceremony for the year 2023-2024, at the invitation of its president, Father Bachara Khoury, and in the presence of the guest of honor and keynote speaker, the university's founder, Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi, held in the main campus in Zouk Mosbeh.

Following the welcoming speech, Al-Rahi addressed the students, saying: "I am very pleased to participate in your graduation ceremony from the distinguished and beloved University of Our Lady of Louaizeh. I congratulate you and your families who take pride in you. I also congratulate the university president, administration, and faculty members who sacrificed for you and can now take pride in you.

Dear youth, you are the 'guards of the dawn' (Isaiah), you are the dawn of a new life. We have gone through circumstances harder than those we live in today. Lebanon has diminished but remains. This Lebanon, rich in its saints, will not fall but will remain steadfast thanks to the determination of its Lebanese sons."

He pointed out that "in the face of continuous deterioration and a proliferation of crises, the university found itself facing the necessity of confronting by playing the role of the absent and marginalized state. It is true that this general national decline poses a great risk to the future of our youth, but the higher education sector has the capacity to play a role in defense and fortification. The university is a beacon for all sectors and components of society, whether locally or internationally, which makes it a fundamental lever for the nation.

Our youth, today you and the nation stand at a fundamental and pivotal crossroads, our decision with you is final and conclusive; our Lebanon is ours, there is no compromise on its identity and entity, so be assured that your university and your church are always beside you. Your weapons are knowledge, words, perseverance, decision, dialogue, and engagement."
