The case of the Egyptian serial killer Karim, known as the "Gathering Butcher," continues to capture the attention of social media users, especially after the bodies of several women he had murdered were found, discarded in desert locations. Investigations revealed that he was an educational content creator on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, under the name "FONIX," where he taught English, with his videos garnering millions of views.

Following the emergence of his case, a larger number of users began visiting his account to view his content, but users were surprised to find the account suddenly closed on Tuesday. Some speculated that this was due to the numerous bans from people who learned of his crimes, while others suggested that a family member may have closed the account.

The Egyptian Public Prosecution had issued a statement detailing the crimes of the serial killer known in the media as the "Gathering Butcher." The statement explained that the case began on Thursday, May 16, when they received a notification about the discovery of an unknown woman’s body found on one of the roads in Port Said.

The statement noted that forensic medicine was appointed to perform an autopsy on the body, and a police investigation was requested, which led to identifying the woman’s identity and that of her killer. The Public Prosecution’s statement confirmed that the "Gathering Butcher" had met the victim, brought her to his home, where they consumed drugs before he killed her and disposed of her body in the location where it was found.

It was reported that security forces arrested the suspect at his residence, and they found the vehicle he used to transport the body as well as two phones he used. During investigations, the suspect confessed that he was accustomed to meeting girls and bringing them to his home to do drugs, after which he would give them drugs to incapacitate them, then kill them and film those acts using his two phones.

The Public Prosecution's statement highlighted that the "Gathering Butcher" confessed to killing the victim and another woman whose body was discovered on Saturday, April 13. The Public Prosecution team accompanied the suspect to his residence, where he reenacted how he committed the two incidents and directed them to where he kept the tools used for drug use and quantities of medicinal drugs, as well as personal belongings of one of the victims.

The Public Prosecution compiled a list of cases of unidentified bodies found around the time of the two murders in the vicinity of the suspect’s residence, leading to the discovery of a third victim, who had been reported missing, with report number 19053 for the year 2023 in the First Gathering Misdemeanor Prosecution. Forensic examination confirmed the presence of the same medication used by the suspect to sedate the victims inside her body.

The statement continued that the Public Prosecution confronted the "Gathering Butcher" with his third crime, which he admitted to committing in a manner similar to the previous two, while investigations are ongoing, which have not yet proven the suspect's involvement in additional murder incidents.

According to information, the "Gathering Butcher" preys on his victims from sex workers, engages in immoral acts with them, and intentionally records them during the encounters to keep the videos on his phone. After examining his phone, it was found to contain a number of videos with sex workers and victims, with each victim’s name recorded on her specific clip.

Investigations also revealed that after examining his phones and personal laptop, a large number of pornographic videos were uncovered, nearly 300 explicit videos, containing pornographic content.
