Anger and Demands for Refunds After the Paris 2024 Olympic Closing Ceremony

Several attendees at the closing ceremony of the "Paris 2024" Olympic Games expressed their dissatisfaction due to the "deception" they experienced regarding the musical performance. The Paris Olympics announced that the Red Hot Chili Peppers, singer Billie Eilish, and rapper Snoop Dogg would perform during the ceremony on Sunday evening. However, attendees were surprised to learn that the artists "performed their songs earlier in Los Angeles," while the ceremony was broadcast on screens in Paris.

One TikTok user stated in a video that what happened was "the scam of the century," demanding a refund for the 250 euros she paid to attend the concert. Another girl commented, "What just happened? The concert was via Zoom. Clearly, I’m hallucinating."

To make matters worse, Snoop Dogg, who was present in Paris throughout the Olympic Games as a torchbearer and a special correspondent for NBC, pre-recorded his musical segment from Los Angeles.

Last Sunday marked the conclusion of the most controversial edition of the Olympic Games, hosted in the French capital over nearly two weeks, with the United States topping the medal table, outpacing China in the number of silver medals after both countries secured 40 golds.

Criticism began to escalate since the opening ceremony, which fell short of expectations both in form and substance, and chaos and scandals continued until the final day, where athletes complained about unsuitable conditions in the Olympic village and some expressed dissatisfaction with the poor quality of food and pollution in the Seine River, where some water competitions were held, in addition to the spread of diseases among athletes.

The opening ceremony included a series of controversial performances, such as a portrayal of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper by a group of transgender artists, as well as singer Philippe Katerine appearing naked as the Greek god Dionysus in the same scene as the Last Supper.
