Young Star Decides to Leave Paris Saint-Germain This Summer

Dutch young star Xavi Simons, currently loaned to RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain, has determined his future with the French club during the summer transfer period. The 21-year-old player joined PSG in 2019 from Spanish club Barcelona, where he is considered one of the graduates of the "La Masia" academy.

Simons left PSG for the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for the 2022-2023 season, then returned to the Parc des Princes in the summer of 2023 but was loaned to RB Leipzig until June 30 of this year. According to transfer news journalist Fabrizio Romano on his social media account "X," Simons has officially confirmed his intention to leave the Ligue 1 champions this summer.

The reliable journalist wrote: "Xavi Simons has officially informed Paris Saint-Germain of his plans to leave the club this summer." Romano added: "It will be a loan deal until June 2025, as expected since April." He concluded: "Both Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are looking to sign Xavi Simons, with the final decision to be made after Euro 2024."

The Dutch player has delivered outstanding performances during his loan at Leipzig, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists across 43 matches in various competitions last season. PSG recently witnessed the departure of its all-time top scorer Kylian Mbappé, who left on a free transfer to join Champions League winners Real Madrid on a five-year contract.

Simons is currently participating with the Dutch national team in the UEFA European Championship taking place in Germany, where the Netherlands defeated Poland 2-1 in their opening match of Euro 2024 and then drew 0-0 with France. The Dutch star scored a goal against the French team but it was disallowed by the referee after a VAR review due to Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries being too close to French goalkeeper Mike Maignan, obstructing his movement to save the ball.
