New Ministerial Formation in the UAE: New Leadership and Ministerial Merging

The Vice President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced a new ministerial formation in the country today, Sunday. Sheikh Mohammed stated: "Brothers and sisters. After consulting with my brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, President of the State, may God protect him, and after his blessings and approval, and in continuation of the ongoing development in the structure of the Government of the United Arab Emirates, we announce today a new ministerial formation in the state as follows: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has joined the Government of the United Arab Emirates as Deputy Prime Minister and has been appointed Minister of Defense." He continued: "Hamdan is a supporter, a foundation, and a leader who loves people and is loved by them. Our confidence is great that he will contribute significantly to the UAE government and be a key player in shaping the future of the UAE, God willing."

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also announced, as part of the government amendments, the appointment of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed as Deputy Prime Minister in addition to his duties as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, the Education and Human Resources Council and the Community Development Council of the UAE was restructured, headed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, with Sheikha Maryam bint Mohammed bin Zayed as the Deputy Chairperson of the Council. The Ministry of Community Development has been incorporated under this council, along with the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Federal Universities, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Sheikha Maryam bint Mohammed bin Zayed has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Center for Education Quality.

Furthermore, the Vice President of the UAE announced that the Emirates Foundation for School Education and the Federal Early Education Agency have merged with the Ministry of Education, appointing Sara Al Amiri as Minister of Education in the UAE. Abdul Rahman Al Owais has been appointed as Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in addition to his current role as Minister of Emiratisation and Human Resources. Ahmad Belhoul has been named Minister of Sports and President of the Higher Colleges of Technology, in addition to his role as President of the Emirates Space Agency. As part of the new changes in the federal government, Aliyah Abdullah Al Mazrouei has been appointed Minister of State for Entrepreneurship.
