Israel Summons Fatah Official for Interrogation

Palestinian media reported today, Tuesday, that Israeli authorities summoned Jibril Rajoub, Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee, for interrogation. The Israeli police delivered a summons to Rajoub at the Liaison Office in Ofer during his return from travel. Media sources indicated that Israeli authorities detained Rajoub's passport while he was at the Allenby Bridge today. There has been no official comment yet from Rajoub or the Fatah movement regarding this news. Last week, Rajoub, who also holds the position of President of the Palestinian Olympic Committee, commented on the selection of Yahya Sinwar to replace Ismail Haniyeh at the head of Hamas, stating that "Sinwar is a pragmatic figure; he is a realistic and logical man," adding, "This is how I knew him both in prison and outside of prison." He also mentioned that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aims to eliminate the Palestinian cause, integrate Israel into the region, demonize Iran, and restore Israel's stature, indicating that there is a historic opportunity for Arabs and Muslims to undertake a strategic political initiative to establish an independent Palestinian state.
