The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Tuesday: "On 11-06-2024, in the city of Sidon, masked individuals entered the home of the money exchange operator (A. T., born in 1952, Lebanese) while armed with handguns, impersonating security personnel. They searched the house and forced his wife at gunpoint to open the safe, stealing $200,000 and identification documents, along with five mobile phones, before fleeing to an unknown location.
Immediately, the relevant units of the Internal Security Forces began their field and investigative measures to uncover the circumstances of the armed robbery and identify the involved perpetrators for their arrest. They impersonated security officers, entered the money exchange operator's house in Sidon, and stole $200,000 under threat of arms. The Information Branch successfully identified and arrested three suspects.
As a result of intensive investigations and inquiries, the Information Branch identified the perpetrators, including: H. D. B. (born in 1986, Lebanese), M. D. (born in 1999, Lebanese), and M. A. (born in 1985, Lebanese). After careful surveillance and tracking, the branch carried out ambushes and raids, leading to the arrest of the first two in Sidon and the third in the Al-Jnah area. Upon searching them, a quantity of hashish and rolling paper were found in the possession of the third suspect, and part of the stolen amount was also recovered.
During the interrogation, they confessed to the charges against them regarding the planning and execution of the armed robbery on the home of the money exchange operator (A. T.). Legal action was taken against them, and they, along with the evidence collected, were submitted to the relevant authority, as per the judicial directive, with ongoing efforts to arrest the remaining accomplices."
