Italian authorities confiscated more than 120 mobile phones stolen by a Romanian citizen from attendees of a music festival in Zurich, as he attempted to enter Italian territory from Switzerland by train. The financial guard stated in a report that during an inspection on the train, a 40-year-old man claimed he had no goods to declare. It added, "Due to doubts regarding this claim, guard members conducted a thorough search of the man's luggage and found 121 phones wrapped in a thick blanket and carefully packed in metallic foil." It continued, "Immediate investigation confirmed that the mobile phones were either stolen or lost during the Street Parade Zurich 2024 music festival held in Zurich on August 10." The Romanian citizen faces charges of possessing property known to have been obtained through criminal means, and he has been released pending trial.
