Hebrew site "Walla News" reported today, Friday, that "the United States conveyed a new proposal to Hamas through Qatar in an attempt to release the Israeli-American captive Aidan Alexander and break the deadlock in negotiations."
According to Israeli and American officials, "the United States exerted significant pressure on both Egypt and Qatar in recent days, urging them to apply pressure on Hamas to agree to the release of several captives in exchange for renewing the ceasefire, aiming to gain more time for negotiations."
The American envoy, Steve Witkoff, held talks with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani to draft a new proposal. The parties reached an agreement that involved releasing Alexander in exchange for a statement by President Donald Trump that would lead to a temporary ceasefire for several days and an immediate resumption of negotiations on a broader deal."
