French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Friday that he will speak by phone with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, "in the coming hours," and with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu within two days, regarding the recent Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
Speaking at the Élysée Palace in the presence of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Macron stated, "We have not received information indicating strikes carried out by Hezbollah and military activities in the south."
He added, "It is essential that the framework (the ceasefire agreement) that was established and agreed upon by Lebanon and Israel be respected. Israel did not respect it today, unilaterally and without any information or evidence of actions that would justify a response."
